Accessibility

The Internet is for everyone. At Bitingedge we firmly believe that the information on the World Wide Web should be accessible to as many people as possible. Accordingly our sites are designed to have at least level A compliance with the guidelines of the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI)

Our Content Management System enables you to continue this compliance as you edit pages within your web site.

How we ensure compliance

One of the most important measures of the guidelines is to provide an alternative textual description for images. This enables non-graphical browsers to describe the image that they are unable to display and it also provides a means by which visually impaired visitors can understand your web page.

Within the Bitingedge Content Management System images are uploaded into 'catalogues' of similar images. At the time of uploading the CMS software asks for a description of the image which is stored within the system. This essentially the information required for compliance with the standard and accordingly the description is inserted automatically whenever you add an image to your web page.
